B & Q join the Renewable Revolution – but are you really getting value for money?
It's good to see that B&Q has started to offer it's Customers green energy in the form of both wind turbines and solar panels. It'll be interesting to see how many people pop in on a Sunday morn for a couple of DIY bits and pieces and end up walking out with solar panels under their arm!Details on their website; www.diy.com/ and other publications lists 2 solar thermal panels at £1498, which on the face of it sounds like a bargain. However, my understanding is that you may also need a water store capable of accepting feeds from solar panels. So, if you haven't already got one, and most people will not, you have to get one of these as well. With the price of a twin coil cylinder and all of the other solar requirements i.e. pump station, expansion vessel, solar controller etc, the price isn't going to stay at £1498 for too long.
To find out how much fully installed Green Heart system will cost you, including the solar panels, thermal store, pump station etc etc etc, use the following link.
